Description

I got myself into a project, trying to find out which processing tool has better features and creates nicer images. I got a trial license for Pixinsight, a lot to learn though. I did already some processing and so far I am more than impressed. Still, there are so far some features in Photoshop that I really do like and did not see in PI yet. I guess I will end up liking both :-). Well, the first step was to create an image of M1 with PS, which I worked on the last day. M1 is special, and I believe a good target for this. The first night for Hα was great, but unfortunately the next 2 nights for OIII and SII were cut short due to incoming clouds. Still got a total of a bit more than 8 hours with my 6" refractor together. In narrow band the chomatic setup is not causing too many fringes around the stars and with a focal length of 960mm (1200*0.8 reduced) M1 seems to fit perfectly.

Description: First Pixinsight trials, used the YouTube videos from Astro Dude, really good for PI Dummies :-). The final stages were still done in PS, but with PI I could flatten the image much better, hence I could use more of my whole image. A cropped version will follow after I figured out how to do the final images in PI. It is powerful, that is for sure.

Description: More work with PI, is fun! Only final color adjustments were done in PS.
