Description

This is my second attempt at capturing this prominent night sky feature. The first attempt was spoiled by wind shake and poor seeing a month earlier. This time I captured the Seven Sisters from Enchanted Rock State Natural Area in Central Texas. ( I also used 18 frames of M45 shot the week before at Pedernales Falls State Park. That outing was spoiled by numerous high clouds creeping in.) The site is a Bortle 2. It was a crystal clear sky and seeing was average to slightly above average. I used a Tamron 150-600 mm G2 lens set at 600 mm. I was using a Fornax Lightrack II and settled on 90" exposure times. The session was over prematurely when the frigid temps and ice formation on my lens and laptop computer became too much to handle. Next time I will take a dew heater.
