Description

The "E" or "Barnard's E" Nebula (officially designated Barnard 142 and 143) is a pair of dark nebulae in the constellation Aquila. It's a well-defined dark area in the shape of the letter "E" against the background of the Milky Way, made up of myriad stars of all magnitudes. Its magnitude is about that of the full moon, or about 0.5 degrees, and its distance from Earth is estimated at 2,000 light-years.
