Description

On the clear, cold night of January 4-5, 2019, with above average seeing forecasted, I drove west to a roadside vantage point near Pedernales Falls State Park which is 45 miles from Austin, Texas. It is a Bortle 3-4 zone and i had an unobstructed 360 degree view of the Texas Hill Country. While I was capturing Orion's Belt with another camera, I set up my iOptron Skyguider Pro with a Canon 5D Mark II fitted with a Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art lens. I aimed almost straight up to frame the Pleiades, California Nebula and Aldebaran. I made 75 exposures of 60" @ f/2.8 using an ISO of 1600. The raw files were stacked in Deep Sky Stacker. The output file was evened out in GradientXTerminator and stretched and finished in Photoshop CC 2019.
