Description

I revisited the Horsehead and Flame Nebulas with my new imaging setup consisting of a WO GT81 APO refractor and full-spectrum modified Nikon D5300 DSLR. The H-alpha regions really pop with the modified DSLR. Next I'm working on gathering H-alpha data with a narrow-band filter to combine with the OSC RGB data from the DSLR.

Horsehead and Flame Nebulas imaged on January 5-6 and 10, 2019 with WO GT81 at F4.7 (382 mm focal length) using Flat6A II field flattener/0.8x reducer, Orion Skyglow Imaging Filter, and full spectrum modified Nikon D5300. Stacked using PI for a total integration time of ~3 hours using 120 sec subs at ISO 200. Subtracted darks, bias, and flats. Stacked using Batch Pre-Processing (BPP) script. Post-processed in Pixinsight: Cropped, gradient removal with ABE, Background Neutralization, Color Calibration, SCNR, stretched using Histogram Transformation Tool, Curves Transformation, HDR Multiscale Transform, Morphological Transformation, ACDNR noise reduction, and Color Saturation adjustment.
