Description

Ced 211 is a very unusual object around the Mira type variable star R Aquarii that despite appearances, is not a planetary nebula. Its apparently created by a white dwarf orbiting the variable and being enveloped by the stars atmosphere during part of the stars 300 day cycle. Material accumulating on the white dwarf then causes recurring novas that eject these glowing gas clouds. According to data on Wikipedia, the last one of these was 190 years ago.

The seeing wasn't great, so I couldn't get as much detail as I was hoping for. Maybe I'll have better luck during the coming observing season.
