NGC 2359 (also known as Thor's Helmet) is an emission nebula in the constellation Canis Major. The nebula is approximately 3,670 parsecs (11.96 thousand light years) away and 30 light-years in size. The central star is the Wolf-Rayet star WR7, an extremely hot star thought to be in a brief pre-supernova stage of evolution. It is similar in nature to the Bubble Nebula, but interactions with a nearby large molecular cloud are thought to have contributed to the more complex shape and curved bow-shock structure of Thor's Helmet.


NGC 2359 (également connu sous le nom de casque de Thor) est une nébuleuse à émission située dans la constellation du Canis Major. La nébuleuse se trouve à environ 3 670 parsecs (11,96 000 années-lumière) et 30 années-lumière. L'étoile centrale est l'étoile de Wolf-Rayet WR7, une étoile extrêmement chaude supposée être dans un bref stade d'évolution pré-supernova. Sa nature est semblable à celle de la nébuleuse de la bulle, mais on pense que les interactions avec un grand nuage moléculaire proche ont contribué à la forme plus complexe et à la structure de choc en arc incurvée du casque de Thor.
