Description

The Monkeyhead Nebula (NGC 2174-2175) is an emission nebula in the constellation Orion, close to the Jellyfish Nebula in Gemini.

Processing workflow:

- PI: Drizzle Integration, DBE, deconvolution, linear noise reduction on each channel Ha, OIII, SII

- PI: Masked stretch, TGVD, SHO channel combination, magenta star halo removal

- starnet: remove stars from SHO

- Photoshop CC: Use the mask generated by starnet and Content Aware fill to remove residual artifacts from starless SHO image

- Photoshop CC: ColorMask tool to remap SHO palette, LRGB combination with Ha master, sharpening with High Pass filter on starless luminance, contrast adjustments

- PI: Downsample to original pixel size, Color noise reduction with ACDNR, final sharpening, Dark Structure Enhance
