Description

This is NGC 2237 dubbed the Rosette Nebula. It is 5,200 light years away and 130 light years across. The "hole" in the middle is around 30 light years across. I like to image this one for my wife and give it to her instead of a bouquet of roses.. When she asks me why I couldn't spring for the real thing, I reply that it takes me on average 24 total hours to produce this picture (imaging and post processing) while buying actual roses takes maybe 5 minutes and involves much less effort. This works for the most part, except on Valentine's Day...
