Description

This is a less-than-perfect image of a less-than-perfect barred spiral galaxy, known only by the handle NGC 925, located in the Triangulum constellation. This galaxy is about 30 million light years from Earth. One thing that makes this galaxy somewhat different from most is that it is filled with asymmetries. The two main spiral arms are dissimilar in shape, size, and mass, and the core is somewhat convoluted. Further, it doesn't exhibit massive star formation in the same way as other galaxies in its class.
