Hello Friends,

as we all suffer from this disgusting bad weather period, I could not resist to shoot through clouds and by bright moon light. The addiction was too strong to resist. I had to...

I have tried to collect data during three nights, but I had throw away more than 50% of the subs. Only the brightest stars were visible. Please see the revision B showing an image of the telescope's surveillance cam with all the clouds and bright light of the moon. But I had no option, since M82 is only visible for a limited period of the year, since the house is blocking the north view.

Well, but never the less, I could collect some usable photons pf M82. Again my goal was to show the Ha components, but not to overdo it. This is very tempting and hard to resist. Also the natural color of the star should be preserved. Actually, even on the RGB composite, the Ha part was very dominant. Adding the Lum channel made it even worse so I had decided to apply Lum only to the core. I ended up with a version, with which I could be satisfied.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection.
