Description

Today, I want to present to you my latest image of NGC 6888 captured through narrowband filters.

NGC 6888, also known as The Crescent Nebula, is a cosmic cloud sculpted by stellar winds and radiation from its central, bright, massive star. This energetic star, known to astronomers as WR 136, is in a brief, pre-supernova stage of evolution. These strong stellar winds have been blowing for about 250,000 years - causing the surrounding gases to glow, and creating this mesmerizing, complex shell-like formation that we see. It's located about 5000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus.
