Description

M1 was probably the second object I shot with an RC8 after I got heavily back into astrophotography just over a year ago, but the subframes were slightly out of focus. This image is slightly better, although I think the inter-mirror distance on my RC10 needs a tweak.

This isn't really enough integration at f8, and it's had a lot of "help" to wind up looking this clean, but I liked it so I decided to post it. Maybe if the clouds part for me again (which they only seem to do when the Moon is bright) I will be able to get more data on this before it rotates away for the year.

The nebula color here is H for R, a blend of S and O for G, and O for B. I can't get happy with SHO combinations for this object, because my eye wants this to be more red than green.

This is one of my first attempts at using RGB stars with a narrowband image. I intentionally left the (dim) nebulosity in with the stars just to add some of the true color. The background is admittedly a little crushed.
