Description

Venus as a thick crescent. It has now attained a relatively large apparent diameter of 35 arc secs, approaching that of Jupiter, but has thinned to 31% illumination. This limits the opportunity to see the cloud bands in UV light, but their sweeping curves are nevertheless just visible.

As our inferior twin and I mean that in the nicest possible way i.e. inferior meaning inside our orbit, Venus makes a stunning sight as a crescent. It will soon have a larger apparent diameter than Jupiter but its phase will continue to decrease.
