Description

NGC 3628 or The Hamburger Galaxy, is a delicious edge on spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo. It is also sometimes called Sarah's Galaxy. I am not sure who Sarah was, but she must have liked hamburgers.

The galaxy is noted for its x shaped bulge in the centre, making some believe this is really a barred spiral galaxy. I have included the inverted monochrome image which shows the x shape nicely.

The Ha data did not show much, aside from a few regions in the 'lower' part of the galaxy.

I processed this vertically as I shot it, fully intending to rotate it to the horizontal position. But I was so used to seeing it in the vertical position that I found I did not like it once I rotated it.

I hope you like it just the way it is!
