Description

I travelled 1 hour away from home to a friend's blueberry farm for Bortle 4/5 skies. I scouted out the location 1 week earlier and was excited to image from this newly found location. Great all around view with a relatively low tree line and electricity. I would also be breaking in my minivan RV camper that I modified for sleeping comfortably.

Another challenge would be choosing a target with the almost full moon at a high altitude for the entire night. I ditched trying any broadband imaging. It was like an old western day-for night scene with the moon casting hard shadows. But most narrowband targets would be towards  the south where the moon is. I decided to try for the Dolphin, although in the same direction as the moon but at a much lower altitude. Also, I would never be able to image it from home. Coincidently, the Dolphin would be at it's highest altitude of the year for this area but still at only 29 degrees. I went for it and managed to get 5 subs before it went back under the trees. To top it off it was the coldest night of the year and this winter season so far (17 degree F). It was great fun sleeping next to a couple of bulls and a donkey.
