Description

New gear and no clouds - unparalleled. I swapped the collimation screws with Bob's Knobs. An absolute must, they should be standard. Not sure whether my collimation is correct but the defocused star Fomalhaut looked concentric to me. Next, I got a new barlow lens. Oh, no, no new telescope or camera.

Originally designed for William Optics' bino viewers these "nose piece barlows" are a great addition for lunar and planetary imaging. As the name suggests, the barlows are threaded to the 1.25" nose piece of a planetary camera in that the barlow is fully inserted into the telescope which helps avoid tilt. Since a nose piece barlow is directly attached to the camera and pushed into the scope the magnification is significantly less than indicated but can be enlarged with extension tubes. The illustration showcases the magnification factors as compared with a standard form factor barlow lens. Planning accurate measurements as weather recovers.
