Description

The Sun in H-alpha on June 17, 2023 featuring one of the largest prominences I've capture in the past few years of solar imaging. The single stack images once again came out with better detail in the proms than the double stack images so posting those.  These proms were vary faint and required long exposures for solar (33 msec vs my usual 10 msec for single stack prom images).

Imaged with a Lunt LS50Tha (with feathertouch focuser and ZWO EAF), Lunt LS50C compact double stack filter, 2.5x Televue Powermate, ZWO ASI290MM. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/18. Image capture using Firecapture. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of 1000 frames).  Processed in Registax (sharpening).   Blacked out the solar disk and colorized prom image using Solar Live View.

Original version:  Prominence image processed Solar Live View (black and white version)

Rev B:  Prominence image processed with LuSol3D and Solar Live View (colorized version)

Rev C:  Added height references and representative Earth for scale using LuSol3D
