Description

At 3,500 light years distance, this planetary nebula in Draco was the first of it's kind to be observed through a spectroscope in 1864 by William Huggins. The core was imaged by the HST, and revealed filaments that give the nebula it's minikor. Presented here are the outer halo structures, composed mainly of hydrogen and helium gases.
