Description

First light with the new scope and a new Optec focuser attached. Problems with the mount dropping out PHD after a little over an hour and would not re-connect no matter what I did. I think it is a mount board problem as the people on the PHD site also think so. Writing a e-mail to iOptron.

Anyway, the sky monitor said 20.34 no moon but haze and high clouds.( i.e. "New scope syndrome".) Got things going and went it to the house letting it do it's thing and when I came back the mount was still tracking but disconnected from PHD. The camera still happily taking images. Log says it wasn't the guide star. This has happened the last three imaging sessions so not new. New computer this time, changed cables (Three times). Calibrated each time...and so on and so on.fingertap.gif

Considering the problems, I got fairly decent images but wanted more imaging time to get better color. However, I was using my modified DSLR and I think may have just a little camera tilt problem with it as the stars are pin pointed through the eyepiece. Guiding was not good but usable not even sure I needed PHD. After Blinking and batch preprocessing I only was able to get 32 good images to work with.

I get all these "little" problems taken care of I can hook up my new ZWO ASI071 and learn to use it.
