Description

Started as a curiosity thing when I wanted to do some data of Jupiter and attempt a near full-moon image of the Lagoon Nebula, I found that I was able to get at least the "southern end" of the nebula and the Cygnus Wall in frame, so I spent most of the night collecting data of this object.

As it is, this image was really difficult to work through in post processing with a very problematic amount of green noise and insufficient data, and temperature problems with an uncooled camera (+150 gain being a notch too high under these light polluted conditions).

Overall, I am pretty pleased with the result given the conditions I imaged under, and will make this image something of a big ongoing project this summer!

A very small, but important fix in my eyes, removing both vertical and horizontal banding.

Added about 3 hours of Hydrogen Alpha data to make an overall HaRGB composite image.

Fine tuned the crunchy noise, subtle contrast enhancement using a lightness layer as luminance.
