I don't get to see much of this region in my back yard due to the treeline in the south, but I was able to get a good 22 frames in last month that turned out far better than expected. Surprisingly not much noise reduction was even needed in this shot too. The biggest issue was fighting with the red halo's around the stars since my focus was ever so slightly off.

Processing Steps:

* Local Normalization + CFA Drizzle of 22 x120s (dithered every 4 frames)

* Dynamic Crop

* Dynamic Background Extraction

* Background Neutralization

* Color Calibration then Photometric Color Calibration

* RGBWorking Space to 1,1,1

Luminance Processing:

* Masked Stretch

* Histogram stretch to bring peak to around 1/8

* Curves for Contrast

RGB Processing:

* MMT Noise Reduction on chrominance

* ArcSin Stretch

* Histogram stretch to bring peak to around 1/8

Combination and Final Edits:

* LRGB Combination of L with RGB

* Rotate 90 degrees to frame how it looks in my backyard

* Starnet++ To Separate Stars from Image

* Desaturate the stars to manage the red halos

* With Curves, boost Contrast and saturation in the background on the starless version

* The V4 produces very red data, so shift the hues more towards the golden colors with the curves tool and a backwards S-curve on the starless version

* Cosmetic Correction to remove some remaining hot-pixels

* Re-add the Stars

* Solve -> Annotate

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
