Description

The Rosette Nebula also known as Caldwell 49. This beautiful nebula seen in Monoceros is the subject of my latest project using my OSC camera and dual NB filters. The Optolong L-Ultimate Ha/Oiii and Antlia ALP-T Sii/Hbeta filters for this image. Stars are from a small amount of data through my UVIR filter. I tried a different approach for combining the data from each filter in this image. I referenced my filter bandpass curves to my camera's QE curve and estimated the percentage of R,G,and B data collected by the sensor at those specific wavelengths. I then split the RGB channels from each filter integration. I made Pixel Math equations to recombine the data into new RGB channels based on the percentages from the filter and QE curves. This is very different from other methods suggesting to split the RGB channels into Ha, Sii, Oiii, and Hb with the Oiii and Hb combining both the blue and green channels from their respective filters.
