Description

The Bubble Nebula or NGC 7635, Caldwell 11, Sharpless 162 is an Ha region in Cassiopeia about 7,100 light years away. The bubble is created by the stellar wind from the young 8.7 magnitude central star SAO 20575. I believe this is the star just above the white blob.

Like my Crescent Nebula, please zoom in to have a good look!

PS Departure of Jake Stevenson
Some of you have commented over the years on the 'big nose' pictures of my dog Jake that I used as avatars. Jake passed away last weekend, so I thought it appropriate to dedicate this picture to him. Jake was abandoned at 1 month old in a cardboard box on the streets of Toronto with his siblings. The Humane Society picked them up and brought them to Burlington where my wife and I happened to be looking for a dog. He was a perfect fit for my family, and had kisses for everyone he met. If you know the animated movie Up, the dog named Dug must have been based on Jake with the line "I just met you, and I love you!" What is my point writing this? Well, if anyone out there is looking for a dog, you do not have to go to a breeder. There are thousands of great pets waiting for homes in shelters that are better than pure breads - they are unique! And now, or course, you must look at a picture of me instead of Jake as my avatar.
