Description

NGC 6992, NGC 6995, IC 1340

Together they form the eastern part of the 'veil nebula' in the constellation cygnus, the so called “bone hand”, the distance is estimated to be 2.400 LJ. The complex is a supernova remnant (SNR). The progenitor star (20 times more massiv than the sun) exploded approx. 18.000 years ago. The whole complex consists of the parts NGC 6960, NGC 6974, NGC 6979, NGC 6992, NGC 6995 and IC 1340.
