Description

By far the most challenging and faintest target I've ever shot. I gathered 58 hours of narrowband from Bortle 1/2 new moon skies, and it wasn't enough! I wanted to be careful not to overdo the noise reduction, since I've seen so many examples of this image that lose the fine structure in the Ha in order to achieve the smoothing effect. As a result, NR was limited to a very light TGVDenoise in linear phase, and I attempted to compensate by adding more data instead!

In this image, you can see the crests and waves of Ha in the background, fine Ha detail in Abell 6, and a barely-there hint of an outer Oiii shell around Abell 6.
