Description

I would like to share a nebula that I had the opportunity to capture in remarkable detail. It is a nebula located near the Large Magellanic Cloud, sometimes photographed in wide field, but now with a scale of 0.47 arcsec/px. It is scarcely visible in RGB filters, showing some outlines in Sii and Ha filters, but stands out in the Oiii filter.

Beyond its aesthetic beauty, this nebula is likely related to one of the three supernova remnants: SNR B0506-65.8, SNR B0506-65.7, and SNR J0506.1-6541, located in close proximity. However, I emphasize that this analysis should be confirmed by experts in the astronomical field.

Despite these three SNRs, when photographed in the Oiii filter, the star Gaia DR3 4663571461086439040 (J2000 RA: 05 06 07.5232010914 Dec: -65 40 49.52906280) stood out with an intense blue color, leading me to consider the possibility of it being another supernova remnant.

This remarkable cosmic structure exhibits peculiar characteristics, intriguingly resembling the head of a Tyrannosaurus Rex or the head of an elephant when turned at a 90° angle.

Celestial greetings,
Eduardo R Fernandes
