Description

NGC2841 - A galaxy 46 million light years away and 200,000 light years across.

That's right, travelling at the speed of light (nothing's faster) it would take you 46 million years to get to this beautiful spiral galaxy. The light collected two nights ago shows how the galaxy looked 46 million years ago.  That's how long it takes us to travel roughly 1/5th around the milky way galaxy.

The small blue galaxy in the bottom left is PGC26572 and is 378 million light years away.

Furthest catalogued object in the shot: The galaxy in the far upper right is PGC2398622 at 1.7 BILLION light years away!

The other small galaxies in the background are around 950 million light years away.

Creator: God
Acquired: 9+hours of 3min sub exposures taken from my backyard in Mobile, AL.

Original, annotated, cropped, and expanded areas of interest (neat blue galaxy from lower left and a collection and what I think is a distant galaxy cluster from the upper right).
