Description

Another ambitious project that unfortunately took me over a month to finish.   Wolf's Cave is a beautiful target in itself, but it frames even better when the SNR shell in the background provides some depth to the image.  Utilizing LRGBHO,  this is another project completed using @Charles Hagen 's narrowband combination and continuum subtraction methods.   They're very hard to beat for a composition such as this.  Feel free to check out the guide on his website: https://www.nightphotons.com/guides/advanced-narrowband-combination

Originally I had planned maybe 10 hours of Ha data on this project, but even after 10 hours, the signal was still very weak, so I pushed on to nearly 20 hours of Ha data.    Realistically I think I could have kept going but I wanted to move on.   It was pretty apparent with the Oiii signal that the only target producing oxygen emission was DeHt5, so I stopped after just a few hours.

Here's the unedited 19+ hours of Ha data.

As you can see, DeHt5 shines through plenty bright, but the SNR shell still could benefit from more time.  The ultimate goal was to give the feeling of depth you can see in the Ha image alone.  This is one of the more dim targets I've attempted.
