NGC 7023, Sh2-136 VdB 141 wide field

I took this image in a beautiful location, on a mountain at 1.000 meters in Tuscany; the Sky is a Bortle 4.
It's about 1 hour far from my home: each time I go there, while I drive during the travel, I feel the emotion like a child for what I'm going to image - because I live under a B8-B9, so it's a paradise for me.
Unluckly that night started very bad, due to a supposed improvement I did to the focuser the day before (never do experiment for such a rare travel!) so I lost about 30 minutes to fix it on the field.
I was using the Star Adventurer with my refractor at 384mm (f/4.8) 80mm, so I had to pay also some minutes for manual finding the subject and framing like I wanted (2 times, due to the meridian flip) which was not so easy for me.
But the perfect Polar Alignment, with Sharpcap, made the guiding fantastic (the whole gear is near 5kg on the Star Adventurer).
In the end, I took about 3h 30m of subs, which is not bad all considered.
The late summer night was cold but I heard the bellow of the deer, in the distance. It was raining all the morning, so the Sky was so clean and bright.
Everything was almost so perfect for this session...
I went for the Iris Nebula, a classic that I never was able to shoot from my backyard because of the light pollution. I choosed to include also the Ghost Nebula.
After this image, I sold a lot of gear to buy different and more portable setup, more suitable for these travels: I understood how beautiful is to go for good Sky, staying in the Nature all the night.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
