This is a wide field image of the area in Cygnus around NGC 6871 and the Tulip Nebula.
This narrow band data for this image was taken from 2023 Table Mountain Star Party at Eden Valley. I was one night short of capturing RGB stars, so I imaged them from my home near Ellensburg, WA the day after I returned from TMSP. I am fairly happy with this one, except that I reworked the imaging train on the Stellarvue scope and still need to make some changes to the spacing between the reducer/flattener and the camera sensor. I expected the nebulosity to be nearly all hydrogen, but there is a glow in the area around NGC 6871. My initial thought is that it might be a flat field error, but it appears in the uncalibrated data as well. I've also seen it in other images, but it appears rounder in mine than in most...
The gear for the narrow band data was as follows:
- Telescope: Stellarvue SV80ST with reducer/flattener at F/4.8
- Camera: ASI2600MC Pro with Optolong L-eXtreme filter
- Mount: Astro-Physics AP1100-AEL, unguided
The broad band stars were the same gear, except that I put it on my Astro-Physics AP1600-AE mount and removed the Optolong filter.
Exposure and processing details are as follows:
- 180x60 seconds unfiltered
- 117x300 seconds with L-eXtreme filter
Processed in PixInsight, with StarXTerminator, BlurXTerminator and NormalizeScaleGradient add-ons.
