This past May I was dabbling with bin RGB channels in 2x2 binning with 1x1 Lum. Based on my set up with my 9.25 Edge, this provides better sampling. Ideally with 2"second seeing with the range of twice my set up with comes to .95" arc sec.

My Dad passed away unexpectedly in late May and I had issues with the data. So I shelved it for another day. I finally got around to another day.

The data is limited and quite noisy. I was also trying to use the ZWO OAG with varying and mostly sub-optimal success. I had to scrap 50% of my frames from these nights.

In the end, definitely on my worse side of projects with poor signal to noise ratio, but still shows a work in progress. With processing the data, it spurs me onto more galaxy with long focal length work.

With my failures with the ZWO OAG, I upgraded to the Celestron OAG and have loved it so far, more to come.

M104 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation of Virgo located about 30 million lights years from earth and measures approximately 130,000 light years in cross section. . The galaxy is mostly edge on with a prominent outer dust band. My data is quite poor, but you can resolve some of the actual dust lanes in the disc above the prominent outer band.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
