Description

My first attempt at Jupiter this year, with it hovering only 29 degrees above the horizon. I used a atmospheric dispersion corrector to compensate for the low altitude in the sky. I took 90 s videos of the planet (roughly 4000 frames each) over a 20 min. period and stacked the best 25% of them. I then imported the nine stacked images into WinJUPOS for derotation, and then performed some additional sharpening and noise reduction.

Exposure time for Jupiter was 20 ms with a gain of 30 (roughly 50 frames per second.) The moons were exposed at 100 ms and stacked (treating each one as a separate align point.) I then pasted the moons into the image as a separate layer in the final processing to generate this final image.
