Description

This object has been popping up on my radar a few times this season and I decided to give it a shot with the 12". I should of done some more research on what filters were effective. I spent *a lot* of time on the OIII filter when going with even more Ha would of paid off. Regardless, I spent a lot of time on this object this past fall and am pretty happy with the results.

Upper left has the blue-giant star Gamma Cassiopeiae shining like a mega spotlight. In the framing I was not sure how far to push it out of the FOV, but after the stacking I think I got a good effect. Maybe I will revisit this with star in the FOV. But it gives the impression where the nebula is being illuminated from.

From a technical perspective, I was not too wild about the sub-frames. The giant steel tube flexes despite a lot of measures to prevent it. Oh well, I have a custom CF tube with thick walls being made overseas that will fix that so my stars are nice and round and in collimation anywhere in the sky.
