Description

NGC 2841 a flocculent spiral galaxy where the spiral arms are not clearly defined. It is well positioned in March in the northern hemisphere for all night imaging. I was able to capture 10 hrs over two nights in late March before it set below my altitude cut-off of 37 degrees.

I am not sure if my limited RGB made the colors difficult to bring out or if this is just one of those objects that have limited color detail. Only about half the data is RGB - the rest is Lum.

I wrestled with the color off and on for a couple of days. With an RGB linfit to the dominant red channel, I still ended up with a green cast. SPCC wasn't much better. Using SCNR to reduce the green most often just left a beige-brown. I ended up using a linfit-backgrndneut-clrcal followed by SPCC and some color shifting in PS.
