Description

The Dumbbell Nebula is a planetary nebula roughly 1200ly away from Earth. At its center is a white dwarf, a star at the end of its life cycle that has run out of nuclear fuel and blown off its outer layers. I think it looks like a piece of candy.

This nebula is very strong in the H-Alpha and Oxygen-3 channels. The Sulfur-2 is a bit weaker but shows some structural details in the core. I tried several different combinations and ended up going with an HOO + Sii blend (R=0.7*Ha + 0.3*Sii, G=0.6*Oiii + 0.4*Sii, B=Oiii).
