Description

Thor's Helmet is an emission nebula about 30 light years across and 11,000+ light years away. Its bright blue and red gases are made to glow from a Wolf-Rayet star, a very bright young star that has burned through most of its fuel, and is now in a pre-supernova phase. This particular star is about 128,000 times as bright as our sun. What we’re looking at when we see this star is actually its outer core, the gas around it being the rest of the star itself, having been shed off.

Shot over about seven hours, using an ALP-T Highspeed to bring out the glowing red and blue, and then re-shot stars without a filter to bring out their full spectrum color.
