Description

What an oddly named group, so had to look it up:  The collection of galaxies got its name after amateur astronomer Tom Lorenzin had a memorable view of it from the Deer Lick Gap, which lies in the mountains of North Carolina.  OK with that I was a bit disappointed, but way to go amateur astronomers.

NGC7331 is 40MLY's away.  The NGC neighbors are between 365 and 294MLY's away.  I could not find any distance info on the PGC galaxies appearing.  This was shot from my backyard...loving the 9.25HD!   And good to shoot in LRGB again.  I used Masked Stretch in Pix for the first time and was surprised by the detail that it brought out in ngc7331 compared to my using manual stretching or screen transfer or EZ soft stretch.  It was like magic!  I also elected not to set the background black point too low to not remove the dust that abounds.  And I'm still learning to get better stars with an SCT.
