Description

Sun on 7/22/2022 about 5pm Central time

This is my first real attempt using the Quark which I just got a few weeks ago in a visit with the good folks at Texas Nautical in Houston.  Scope is my trusty Tak FS-60, camera is ZWO ASI178.  Mount is Tak PM-1 set for solar tracking - worked great just pointing the mount roughly north and turning on tracking.   Still have some work to do on my setup - Newton rings were clearly visible but thankfully looks like they stacked out, should probably get a ZWO tilt adapter.   I didn't see any artifacts from the ASI178 - I read that this could be an issue with that camera when used for solar, but so far so good.  Not sure I got the etalon dialed in optimally - something to keep working on.

Processed using Autostakkert -> Registax -> Photoshop.  Roughly (and poorly) followed along this video for processing:  Solar Imaging Tutorial: Data Acquisition, Alignment & Processing - Bing video

500 frames, top 35% stacked.

I have a long way to go, but I am encouraged by the initial results.
