Description

First light with my new mount, the Astro-Physics 1100-AE, and also my first completely unguided image!

I bolted the guide scope to the system, thinking perhaps I'd need to guide a little since I did a rough polar alignment with the RAPAS polar scope that hasn't been calibrated to the mount yet.  But after doing a dec arc model of about 50 points along the path of the object, I found each frame showed nice small round stars.  So I never bothered to turn on the guidescope.  No more worrying about lost guide stars, or waiting for the guide star to settle between exposures.  Dithering is now direct mount movement set to 0.5 seconds -- those extra seconds waiting for the autoguider to settle between exposures really add up.
