Description

At a declination of -24 this good sized galaxy is reachable from most of both hemispheres.   But it is seldom imaged I think for two reasons:

1) The surface brightness is quite low and it wants a lot of integration time
2) At only 21 million light years distant it is close enough to resolve stars which gives a bit of a mottled look.  Partially resolved stars look a lot like noise!

I liked the juxtaposition of the dim galaxy and the bright stars in the field so I thought I'd give it a shot.   The galaxy is not well defined for a spiral.  The is oddly flat and the arms are mostly defined by clumps of blue stars.  I found little activity in Ha.  This sounds like  boring target as I describe it!
