This is a natural colour image (LRGB) from Bortle 2 skies in the Central West of NSW, Australia. NGC 6559, IC4685, IC 1275 & IC 1274 are emission and reflection nebulae of extraordinary beauty in Sagittarius. Set against a backdrop of older yellow stars that dominate the central core of the Milky Way Galaxy is this region of nebulosity and molecular clouds. The intense red glow, is due to Hydrogen Alpha emission taking place where clouds of hydrogen gas facilitate star formation. Meanwhile hot young blue stars illuminated areas of the gas and dust clouds and produce beautiful blue reflection nebulae across the scene. The dark intensity of the molecular clouds provides an artistic offset to the colour palette. The dark is so intense I had to go back and rework the original image, as it was so easy to move the black point to the point of clipping these areas.
The bright planetary Nebula PK006-02.1 can be distinctly seen in the lower part of the image.

Surely the artists Monet, van Gogh, Chagall etc must be jealous of such a rendition brpought to us by the Universe.

If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
