Description

This is the supernova remnant known as the Jellyfish Nebula, or IC 443, located about 5000 light years from Earth in the constellation Gemini. This image integrates data from 129 four-minute sub-frames which captured the faint light from energized hydrogen, oxygen, and sulphur atoms in the supernova remnant. This was the first object for which I was able to process the stars and nebulosity in separate workflows, recombining them at the end.
