Description

This was a quick test of 2 things from last Friday night.

Test #1 - Check that tracking would be good on the new raised observation deck that I built in my backyard to get me higher off the ground so I can see more sky over neighbors trees and houses (ee attached pick). Guiding was as good as I ever get on the ground so I now have the confidence to build a small R.O.R on the deck.

Test #2 - I recollimated my scope using some of the new techniques from the information I found here: http://www.astro-baby.com/astrobaby/help/collimation-guide-newtonian-reflector/. My stars are still slightly elongated but are much better than my previous imaging run, M106. I think the collimation is finally as good as I can get it. And I don't plan on touching my secondary mirror again until I have to.

This target is cool to me because I viewed visually a while back at my clubs first star party which was a first for me to attend. While I could not make out any details it was neat to see it visually as a blurry smudged area that stood out against the Taurus star field.

I hope you enjoy the image. HA is mapped in red and Oiii is mapped in blue and green.
