Rho Ophiuchi and Blue Horsehead over Mt Warning

Description

"Eruption of Colours"

This 'Deepscape' image shows the spectacular Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex & Blue Horsehead nebula rising over Mt Warning, an ancient volcano in New South Wales.

Mt Warning is known to local Aborigines as 'Wollumbin' or Cloud Catcher, due to the frequent presence of clouds at the top of the mountain.

The crescent moon was setting as I started taking images which provided some natural lighting for the foreground.

I took considerable effort whilst blending to ensure that the tracked sky was correctly positioned in relation to the untracked foreground, making it a very close representation of what the scene might look like to future generations with their cybernetically and genetically enhanced eyesight.
