Description

This is LDN 1235, The Shark Nebula.  A dark nebula.  Been a while since I have tried dark nebula, and last night seemed like a great opportunity.  However, when you live next to a giant body of water, like I do, and the dew point and temp hit a certain limit, fog forms.  We usually get it more in August here, than in October, but the seasons are changing.  So all of a sudden I looked outside as I was getting some weird guiding numbers, and lo and behold, I could no longer see my scope on the driveway where I set it up!  I went out to take a look.  a big fog bank had come up from the marsh.  However, when I looked up, I still had a pretty good sky.  So I kept imaging till it finally got so thick, it was not longer worth trying.  I was able to get 33 images at 300sec each.  not perfect for a dark nebula, I was going for at least 70, but it worked.  This is a fun nebula to try, and I did go back tonight, only to have a much thicker fog bank roll in after about 16 images...Like I said, life as an astrophotgrapher, near a big ocean!  Clear skies??
