Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a faint planetary nebula located 6000 light years away in the constellation of Sagittarius at a declination of -20 degrees.  It spans 2.5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 4 light years.

This is such a faint PN that a magnitude has not been identified for it. Its size is twice that of a typical PN, suggesting that this is an older (ancient) PN which has become diffuse and dim in its later life.

A bright star is seen in the center of the PN.  I believe it is too bright to be the progenitor and that it is simply superimposed over the center of the nebula in a nice coincidence.  Dana Patchick has since confirmed this for me.  The progenitor star is the very faint star just to the left of the central bright one.
