Description

This is another image taken with our new scope during the test phase.

Supernova 2022hrs can be seen in the disk of NGC 4647 (indicated in the zoom-in image). It exploded in mid April 2022 and reached its maximum brightness in early May. We took the images in late May and June. In this period, it appears green, which is the typical behavior of a Type Ia supernova about a month after the maximum. This is caused by the absorption of elements like Fe, Mg, Ca, etc in the blue band, making its green light apparently stronger (than blue). Otherwise, as we all know, there are no regular stars that should appear green.

This image is an LRGB composition. The tri-color part was taken through BVR Johnson photometric filters.
