Description

I tagged NGC 6781 for imaging some time ago but I wanted to visit it with higher focal length. Now with the EdgeHD at hand I decided to image it.

In the separate frames it looks like a green/blue ball with a red halo. After I stacked the images the halo became even bigger showing some shock-waves coming out of the center. BlurXterminator, GHS and LHE brought out some nice cloud formations. I think that the progenitor star can be seen as well - magnitude 15.

I found the following information for this object - found by William Herschel in 1788. Distance from the SUN - 1500 light years. The apparent size of the object is 1.9x1.8 archmin. It is believed that we view the nebula pole-on so its true shape may be even more intriguing.
