Description

A little while back I imaged NGC2336 & IC467 together with Stella the 120mm SW Esprit.  As galaxy season is upon us I moved Newt an 8" F/4.7 onto the mount instead and as a first object pointed again at the NGC2336 field in the far north near 80 degrees Dec. This result was from just under 19 hours total with 120s subframes, R,G,B, CLS at about 950mm focal length. I learned a lot about stretching with this one..  The luminance  data far out stripped the RGB as it was ~360x120s and each of the color masters was from ~80x120s.  After looking at stretching to get the L close to what I liked I saved that process and found that a little AI NR (NoiseExteriminator at 0.4 amount on the linear RGB ) matched the resulting widths of the L and RGB histograms well so the RGBL blend was trouble free.  The default values for screen stretch was much too aggressive and default masked stretch also had issues.

Newt is basically homemade but based on a very old Orion 8" F/5 with a refigured primary and slightly larger secondary.  Flocking and baffles added to light path. Also a MoonLight 2" focuser.
